Fresh, clean and rejuvenating, today’s premiere showcases an invigorating shower of versatile sounds from Glaswegian up comer Kami-O! It’s always exciting to shine a light on new emerging talent, so it’s a pleasure to present a track taken from Kami-O’s latest self-released project, ‘Hara‘ EP. This one follows his debut on Italdred earlier this summer as he continues to move forward and develop his sound, which is certainly noticeable on today’s premiere, ‘Tamas‘.
Beginning this four track journey of vibrant, contemporary 140, Kami-O opens the gate to the deep, mystical lands of ‘Rishi‘, a comparatively tranquil opener with deep yet easy going lows and breezy esoteric tones. But it doesn’t take long for the Glaswegian to swing the mood and dial up the heat with ‘Hara‘, centred on a maniacal hypnotic lead that powerfully cuts through an energetic, kick heavy low end. Kami-O plunges into deeper regions during the mesmerising ‘Yonda‘, a favourite of mine thanks to the thick, brooding bass. Although it’s intense and suffocating in it’s own right, the sub-frequencies are given room to breathe by the minimal, tribal accented percs that shapes this eyes down, meditative roller. The finale and today’s premiere ‘Tamas‘ is virtually a synthesis of the previous three tracks on the EP and Kami-O’s most alluring creation. The natural and unorthodox acoustic plucks provide some mystical ambience before giving way to the progressively deep and powerful sub-bass movements that travel for the remainder of the ‘Hara‘ EP journey.
Kami-O is yet another producer to discover and get stuck into right now, but not just for his small selection of releases thus far, but for what is to come. ‘Hara‘ EP is just the beginning of a run of self released projects where I’m sure he’ll continue to flourish.
‘Hara’ EP is out 28/08/2020 and available to pre-order from Kami-O’s Bandcamp.
