Birmingham’s Delta continues to make a notable rise within the scene this year and his best yet lands on Too Much Collective! Following releases from 7Kidz and Joe Big in recent months, Delta‘s ‘Final Judgement‘ EP is another heavy hitting collection of tracks to feature on the Bristol imprint. It’s a four track exploration of his dark and atmospheric sound which hits it’s darkest depths during today’s premiere, ‘Shipwreck‘.
The record kicks off with it’s title track where Delta drops us straight into the deep end with ominous tones and vocal reverberations, before the subs are flexed by some tough and innovative bass design – a seamless relay between prevailing throbs and brain melting flutters. The aggression overflows into the following ‘Chedz‘, a certified personal favourite for some time. More thick and wonky lfo work dominates the cold space but it’s the infectious flow and distinctive percussive palette that really shines here, including a snare that feels like a smack to the face in the most satisfying way possible! Today’s premiere ‘Shipwreck‘ follows, where Delta moves from the cold darkness to outright evil. From top to bottom, beginning to end, it’s just a faultless display of dark 140. From the spine chilling SFX to the quite deliberate clunky drum movements, it’s a relentless roar from this four headed monster which is completed upon the growling bottomless depth of ‘Through The Fire‘.
Delta‘s intensity is palpable throughout his TMC debut and represents the best of dark dubstep in 2023. Too Much Collective seems to be harnessing a keen ear for fresh hard hitting tunes right now and Delta‘s new material is about as fresh and as hard hitting as it gets.
