To say Hebbe has smashed it this year would be an understatement. The Dutch dubstep wizard has featured on a range of leading labels; Crucial Recordings, White Peach, Artikal Music and now for the second time this year, DUPLOC. For his latest release Hebbe takes centre stage on DUPLOC‘s inaugural vinyl release, opening up the label’s new vinyl series ‘DUPPLATES’, moving into the physical realm after a successful stretch of downloadable releases since 2015.
The A-side opens up with Hebbe‘s highly anticipated, long time dub ‘Watch Out‘. Beginning the release the right way, a dramatic vocal sample taken from Silent Hill leads towards the drop. A heavy rolling low end and a massive face scrunching mid range are what’s on the menu here, served with various textures and progressive melodies creating a giant cinematic masterpiece. ENiGMA Dubz makes an appearance on the next track, giving ‘Watch Out‘ the remix treatment, a tough task for sure but of course the veteran pulls it off, delivering extra heavy subs and a range of breath taking synths appearing throughout the soundscape.
On the flip, Hebbe is joined by fellow Dutch producer and upcomer Melle along with another producer who’s been killing it recently, Mr K, fresh from a solid release on Deep Dark & Dangerous. ‘Wayside’ begins quite minimal compared to the previous tracks, focusing on the bouncy b-line. However, with a constant addition of various textures throughout, it isn’t before long you’re faced with a beast. ‘Lemon Twist‘ is also another bouncy number however this one leans to the more laid back side of things with a little brighter sound palette. Two seriously heavy hitters from the trio.
What a way to begin a vinyl series. Top work from DUPLOC as always and of course, more unbelievable material from Hebbe who just cannot stop delivering the heaters.
