How about some wacky uplifting music in this time of uncertainty? Well Oddkut has got you covered with today’s wild premiere ‘Taboo’, taken from his latest EP of the same name. ‘Taboo‘ EP sees the Russian producer put together a handful of lively, light hearted beats to brighten the mood. Somewhat of a switch from his usual deep, dark productions.
The opening track ‘Taboo’ comes through with a proper full-frontal dance floor bounce. A progressive, percussion lead bop filled with carnival vibes, if this one doesn’t get you moving then nothing will! The second track ‘Beatbox’ is certainly a bizarre one, welcomely so. The experimental track proves to be an interesting take on the previous track’s bounce and rhythm, put into literal beat box form. Oddkut gets a little more sombre and moody with ‘Hayabusa’, utilising a strung out, grimey synth hook which adds a little tension to an otherwise lively record. Oddkut takes advantage of more interesting sampling on ‘Knife Riddim‘ before ending ‘Taboo‘ EP on more grimey flavours with ‘Spiral’.
It’s clear Oddkut intended to have a little fun on this one which is always refreshing as both producer and listener. And that definitely shone through and put a grin on my face. With that said however, Oddkut appears to be on quite the hot streak; be sure to check out his latest killer 10″ on Rotpot Records if you’re a collector and looking for something little more aggressive!
‘Taboo‘ EP is out now and available to download from Oddkut’s Bandcamp.
