Not much more can be said for Infernal Sounds that I haven’t said before, label founder Aneurin and crew clearly know what’s up regarding the wide reaching spectrum of Dubstep and 140. From the recent forward-facing authenticity of Von D to the grimey influences of SWR, Infernal can accommodate it all. The latest release sees the label attain two naughty riddims from the legendary Cluekid that could already be considered classics. Both ‘Electric Avenue‘ and ‘Horizontal‘ remained highly sought after for years and finally, it lands on home systems across the globe.
On the A-side, we have the animated, uplifting wobbles of ‘Electric Avenue‘, moving through flavours of jungle and raw, fundamental Dubstep with plenty of character. On the flip, we find another fabled tune, desired for the best part of a decade. ‘Horizontal‘ maintains all the raw, authentic charm of it’s sister track but bright melodies intervene, radiant and energetic like it’s wet and wobbly low end. A track of visceral rawness and nostalgia that classics from the likes of Skream generate. Although, especially now, Cluekid can fit comfortably in the proverbial hall of fame bracket himself.
IFS024 is another must cop release courtesy of Infernal Sounds, a label that can pull off releases from both the upcoming and the legendary. Each record, a tangible collectors piece that we forget to appreciate in the digital age, always done justice by the consistently beautiful artworks of Emily Dayson.
IFS024 is out now and available from the Infernal Sounds Store.
