The fellas at LDH Records have certainly kept themselves busy since it’s inception mid 2020. If the latest vinyl exclusive from Zygos wasn’t enough, the Liverpool based label keep the tunes rolling this week with a digi three tracker from Dedicut! Although Dedicut‘s appearances have been limited in recent years, ‘Bump‘ EP displays some of the one hundred degree heat he’s been sitting on, including today’s premiere, ‘Grey‘.
Long time dub, ‘Bump‘, gets things under way in dance floor rousing fashion. Smooth intermittent throbs of sub bass get the feet shuffling alongside sparkling vocal trails that for me, elegantly sprinkle in a little refreshing UKG flavour. However it won’t come as a surprise to see that today’s premiere is my favourite of the three. ‘Grey‘ takes a darker turn, precariously moving through an alleyway of suffocating low end rumbles. An environment populated by shadowy chattering creatures, possibly an undetected invasion of the notorious ‘grey’ alien, illuminated by sweeping sci-fi FX that become more volatile as we move forward. ‘Chemistry‘ rounds things off with Dedicut emerging from the shadows and back into the dance. A dominant trail of energetic basslines, embellished by more groovy vocal cuts, from the charismatic trails to the chant-like whispers.
Like many producers to have already landed on LDH Records in the last twelve months such as Mani, IDHS and Proove, Dedicut grabs the opportunity with both hands on LDH009 and demonstrates why it’s imperative that we hear more from the enigmatic producer in the near future.
