After focusing on a couple of veterans over the recent weeks, it’s time to shine the spotlight upon an upcoming talent for the first premiere of 2022! Manchester rookie Qwirk lands a debut on In:Flux Audio this week, a label that constantly keeps their ear to the ground and pulls out the talent that lies beneath. ‘Bubbly‘ EP will introduce many to Qwirk‘s sharp and lively productions, containing a couple of his freshest cuts and a couple of finely tuned remixes that occurs on so many of In:Flux‘s diverse releases. Today I have the pleasure of presenting the original mix of Qwirk‘s ‘Oppress‘, the EP’s mean-faced stomper!
Before today’s premiere, the grimy and aptly named ‘Bubbly‘ leads the way, dripping with filthy textures and boiling square-wave frequencies, the sort that would blow the roof off the building early into the dance whilst stunning each raver with that killer rimshot! The aforementioned ‘Oppress‘ follows with heavy feet, a package of guttural stomps emblazoned with sections of sizzling metallic notes and nifty percussion, before a couple of talented and multi-faceted producers take charge. Birmingham’s S3 Dubs steps in with his take on ‘Oppress‘, swapping the King Kong stomps for some gnarlier bass design and Ekula laces the same track with his razor-sharp club-moving breaks over deeper humming subs – some serious diversity going on right here!
Like a lot of In:flux Audio‘s projects, the UK imprint does well to draw for two of Qwirk‘s most impressive creations yet, delivered in a punchy package of energising and at times colourful dubstep, with the two differing remixes taking the project up a level further!
‘Bubbly‘ EP is out 28/01/2021 and available to download from the In:flux Audio Bandcamp.
