For Honey & Bass‘s first premiere we have the honour of showcasing a track from the latest EP on Bleak Winter Records! ‘Retrofitting EP‘ comes loaded with five heavyweight tracks with a wide range of styles thanks to the three top producers involved. We’re treated to two heaters from Virginia’s Inyoka, two from label boss man Korin Complex and a remix from dutch heavyweight VGB.
From Inyoka‘s opening track ‘Beryl‘, to VGB’s remix of Korin Complex‘s ‘The Person You Might’ve Been‘, the EP journeys from the cold dark depths of the dubstep spectrum to the warm bouncy atmosphere of the dance floor. Where Inyoka covers the basis of classic 140 with kicks that hit harder than a donkey and snares that slap harder than a wet fish (not forgetting the wonky wubs on ‘Turbines‘), Korin Complex heads for the dance floor with percussion focused 4×4 wizardry on ‘Interlinked‘. He sticks to the rhythmic magic on the following track ‘The Person You Might’ve Been‘ and introduces classic warm swells that lead the way. ‘VGB‘ enhances the vibe with a less is more approach by chopping the lead, putting on his own twist, plus adding vivid natural-esque percussive hits for extra power which concludes the EP perfectly.
BWR003 is out 12th April and you can pre order it here.
